We are proud to announce that for 2012 we are welcoming two new centres and three new courses. Culford School, near to Bury St Edmund’s, will host the “Bucksmore Sport” Programme. The new “Bucksmore Choice” programme will take place at the University of Cambridge’s Churchill College. Our other new course for 2012 is “Bucksmore Three Capitals.” This course will be a tour of Great Britain, including stays in London, Edinburgh and Cardiff.

Culford School and Bucksmore Sport

Culford School (above right) is the location for our “Bucksmore Sport Programme.” This traditional English boarding school dates back to 1881. The school is centred around Culford Hall, a building dating back to the 16th century, and lies in the middle of protected park land. The school has outstanding sports facilities including a modern sports centre, a heated indoor swimming pool, badminton, squash courts, an indoor climbing wall and an indoor tennis centre.

The sports facilities available make this the ideal location for “Bucksmore Sport.” During this course students will be immersed in British sport and sporting culture. They will learn about famous English sporting events such as Wimbledon, the Boat Race and, of course, London 2012!

Alongside a comprehensive English tuition programme students will have 3 afternoons of specialist sports coaching in a selection of sports including football, tennis, basketball and swimming.

All levels of English ability are welcome on this course that promises to deliver on the sports field as well as in the classroom.

Churchill College

The University of Cambridge’s Churchill College (pictured above) is the new host of our “Bucksmore Cambridge” programme. Built as a monument to Britain’s famous Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, Churchill College is one of the most modern of all the University of Cambridge’s Colleges.

There are large playing fields at the back of the college and it boasts a host of on-site facilities, including a large theatre and cinema, a music recital room and a radio station. Students can relax in the extensive college grounds in-between lessons, and during freestyle afternoons they can go into the centre of Cambridge which is only a 15 minute walk away.

Bucksmore Choice

Bucksmore Choice is a new programme for 2012 and will be at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge. This programme gives choice to the student. Students receive 15 hours of English tuition per week and then 11 hours of a chosen elective subject. The electives on offer are; drama, dance, art, photography and film production. Students can tailor their course to suit their own interests. Furthermore, the electives will be studied with English teenagers from a local sixth form college.

As part of the programme there are 2 full day and 1 half day trips a week. As with all courses, all meals are provided and there is a comprehensive activities programme including games, cultural visits and sport.

Bucksmore Three Capitals

Our final new addition to the 2012 Bucksmore Summer Programmes is “Bucksmore Three Capitals.” This programme is a tour of some of the main tourist destinations in Great Britain. Students will see London, York, Edinburgh, the Lake District, Old Trafford football stadium and Cardiff amongst other places. There will be a full English course during the stay in Edinburgh and there will be project work during the two week tour. A coach will transport students to all locations where full board accommodation will be provided. This course can be a great introduction to Great Britain, or the perfect way to finish a stay after another of our Bucksmore Summer programmes.
