Please note: 1 afternoon activity period and 1 evening activity period each week is used for the Trinity College Speaking Examination preparation and English lessons
On non-excursion days there are always two afternoon activities. At our Plumpton College (link to Plumpton College page) and King Edwards School (link to King Edwards page) centres, after lunch students can decide which sport they would like to do in ‘Sports Choice’.
Students choose from at least 3 different ‘Sports Areas’
Sports Hall: classic indoor sports like basketball, badminton or volleyball can all be played in the sports hall.
Tennis Courts: many of our students enjoy tennis so they will have plenty of opportunities to keep up with their game.
Outdoor Playing Fields: of course football is very popular so with our extensive playing fields there are lots of opportunities to play football along with rounders/baseball, hockey, cricket and ultimate frisbee.
Swimming: indoor swimming pool (King Edwards School only. Plumpton College and St Hilda’s College centres use local indoor swimming pools).
Of course, our students don’t have to do only one, why not try all 3!
At our St Hilda’s centre in Oxford afternoon activities are slightly different as students on some days have cultural visits and activities in the beautiful city of Oxford replacing Sports Choice.
Then, after Sports Choice, there is always another organized activity with yet another in the evening in Bucksmore Summer. Varied, exciting, stimulating, and guaranteed to get students interacting and making new friends from all over the world, that’s the Bucksmore way!
Trash Fashion, Barn Dance, Scavenger Hunt ,Murder Mystery, Bucksmore Summer Fete, Camp Fire and Marshmallows, It’s a Knockout!, The Generation Game, Art Class Summer Ball, Karaoke, Speed Dating, Jewellery Making, Christmas in Summer, Wall Climbing, Quiz Night, Kite Making/Flying, Colour Wars, Acting Out, Disco’s, Casino Royale and You Bet!

For our youngest learners Bucksmore have developed an exciting range of activities which will inspire and stimulate young learners’ minds. Children learn through play and with Bucky Kids activities, learning has never been so much fun! One of the highlights is going to a popular London show such as ‘The Lion King’.

1 or 2 Adventure Activities
Bucksmore Plumpton is the perfect location for our Adventure Programme. It has superb on site horse riding facilities including two indoor riding schools. It is at the foot of the South Downs, perfect for mountain biking and close to Ardingly Lake for a wide range of water sports activities.
This programme has a fantastic range of adventurous activities.
Horse riding, Sailing, Indoor wall climbing, Kayaking, Raft building, Mountain biking and One night survival
All activities are taken by a fully qualified instructor and students can be at all levels of ability - from beginner to proficient - in any of the sports.
Students will also be able to enjoy many traditional Bucksmore ‘fun’ evening activities:
