Bucksmore Sport
Specialist sports programme for 13-17 year olds
In honour of the London Olympics, Bucksmore Sport is perfect for anyone crazy about sport. Students combine a full academic programme with a wide variety of international and classic English sports. They will quickly become experts on events such as Wimbledon, the Grand National and of course, London 2012!
After morning lessons on non-excursion days students will receive supervision and specialist coaching in a combination of team and individual sports. A 2 week course contains six 3 hour sessions of sport per week including:
- 3 x House Team coaching. On arrival students will be placed into mixed nationality houses or teams. At the end of a 2 week course students will compete in a Grand House Olympics covering 3 team sports as well as a mini-athletics tournament. During these 3 afternoon sessions students will learn the rules and receive coaching in the three final sports. The winning team will be crowned Bucksmore Champions.
- 2 x Individual Optional choices. Students can sign up 2 days in advance for these sessions. Popular sports such as football and swimming will always be offered as well as selected others depending on availability of facilities and demand.
- 1 x Classic English Sports Day. This is the students’ chance to find out all about being English! Students will either have the chance to play cricket on the glorious Culford cricket square or take part in the Bucksmore Tag Rugby World Cup. There will be detailed link lessons and training before these sessions so students will be fully prepared to celebrate these classic English sports!
Course Details
Bucksmore Sport includes:
- 17.5 hours of English tuition per week
- 3 afternoon sessions of sport per week
- 2 full day excursions and 1 half day trip per week
