Summer 2025 Adventure Activities Announced!
If you’re looking for a summer camp in the UK that combines academic growth with unforgettable outdoor experiences, look no further than English Plus Adventure at Bucksmore Brighton.
This dynamic programme is designed for students aged 13-17 who want to improve their English while making the most of the great outdoors – all from a private, secure campus just minutes from Brighton’s iconic seafront.
What is English Plus Adventure?
English Plus Adventure is part of Bucksmore’s wider English Plus programme, where you can choose a specialist track in addition to your English lessons. While other students might opt for Performing Arts, Football, STEM & Coding, or Entrepreneurship & Leadership, Adventure students take things outside – with adrenaline-filled activities, fresh air, and a focus on teamwork, resilience, and fun.

Adventure Activities 2025: What’s Included
Students in the English and Adventure summer camp programme take part in two specialist adventure sessions per week, in addition to their full schedule of English lessons and evening social activities. Here’s what you can expect in Summer 2025:
Climbing
Test your strength and courage on the climbing wall – perfect for building physical confidence and teamwork skills in a supportive, instructor-led environment.
Sailing
Take to the water and learn the fundamentals of sailing. It’s a great opportunity for students to work together, learn navigation basics and boat handling. Full instruction is provided.
Kayaking
This is great for balance, coordination, and learning paddling techniques but also a great way to get around and explore the water. A classic summer adventure, perfect for first-timers and experienced paddlers alike.
Archery
Sharpen your focus with archery sessions that teach precision, patience, and control – a unique chance to try something totally new.
Windsurfing, Raft Build & Race, Paddleboarding
All three activities take place during the same session:
- Windsurfing – Feel the thrill of speed and control on the water.
- Raft building and racing – Combine creativity and teamwork to build, float, and race your own raft.
- Paddleboarding – A relaxed but skillful sport that’s become a summer favourite.
High Ropes, Zip Wire & Giant Swing
Face the heights and conquer the treetops with high ropes challenges, take the leap of faith on a zip wire, and feel the rush on a giant swing – all while building courage and supporting your peers.

How do the adventure activities fit into your week?
Your adventure sessions happen in the afternoons, at the same time other students are doing their regular activities. But while they might be staying on campus for sports or creative workshops, you’ll be heading off on a mini adventure – literally.
Most of your sessions take place off-site, so you’ll hop in a Bucksmore minibus with your group and head to awesome local activity centres near Brighton. Think forests, water sports hubs, climbing centres – all the best spots.
You’ll do two adventure sessions a week, and most students are with us for two weeks, which means four different activities. You don’t have to pick them in advance – the schedule’s already planned to make sure everyone gets a great mix of action.
And don’t worry – you’ll still get to take part in all the evening fun back at camp, like quiz nights, discos, and games, plus any day trips and weekend events. You get all the English learning, all the adventure, and all the Bucksmore fun.

Is it safe? And what if I’ve never done anything like this before?
Each session starts with a full briefing, where your instructors will show you the ropes (sometimes literally), go over all the equipment, and explain everything clearly. You’ll be with a small group and supportive staff the whole time.
You don’t need to be super sporty or have any previous experience – just bring a bit of confidence and a willingness to try new things. You don’t need to be super fit either, but if you think you may have any medical or physical conditions that could stop you from being able to fully enjoy one of the adventure activities, that’s a good reason to contact us or arrange a live chat.
Can I book the Adventure Programme after I arrive?
This programme is popular for a reason! It sometimes happens that our students book on the General English Foundation programme, but when they see how much fun their friends are having with the adventure option, they want to upgrade.
We understand! But because the activities are pre-planned and group spaces are limited, it’s not always possible to swap once the course has started. So if you’re thinking English Plus Adventure might be for you, it’s best to book it from the start.
