Summer 2025 Performing Arts Schedule Announced!

At Bucksmore Brighton, summer is all about confidence, creativity, and communication. If you’re someone who loves musicals, enjoys performing, or just wants to try something completely new, then English Plus Performing Arts is the course for you.

Set on a private campus just minutes from Brighton’s vibrant seafront, this course is designed for students aged 13-17 who want to improve their English through the power of the stage. It’s all about using acting, singing, and dance to express yourself – all while having the summer of a lifetime with friends from around the world.

What is English Plus Performing Arts?

This course is part of our English Plus series – a set of programmes that combine our 15 hours of English lessons per week with a specialist subject you’re passionate about.

Students on the Performing Arts course spend two afternoons a week diving into professional-led drama, music, and dance workshops, while still taking part in all the other elements of Bucksmore life: cultural trips, evening socials, and weekend adventures.

2025 Summer Schedule for English Plus Performing Arts

Each week focuses on a different hit musical – either adapted from a book or blockbuster film. You’ll act out scenes, learn choreography, and sing key songs from that show, with guidance from professionals who know the West End inside and out.

Weeks 1 and 2: From Page to Stage

Explore musicals that were inspired by books:

• Matilda (5 July)
• Harry Potter (8 July)
• Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (12 July)
• Wicked (15 July)

Weeks 3 and 4: From Movie to Musical

Step into the world of film-inspired stage shows:

• Frozen (19 July)
• The Lion King (22 July)
• Mamma Mia! (26 July)
• Grease (29 July)

Every two-week block is unique, so if you’re staying for four weeks, you’ll enjoy a full variety of shows and never repeat content.

What You’ll Learn

Whether you’re already performing or just curious to try, you’ll build new skills and grow in confidence across all areas of theatre:

Acting:

• Warmups to get stage-ready
• Voice projection and emotional expression
• Scene work and improvisation

Music:

• Vocal techniques from West End performers
• Ensemble and solo singing
• Working on songs from real shows

Dance:

• Full-body warmups to stay safe and confident
• Learning choreography from famous productions
• Performing with energy and teamwork

Who will teach me? 

You’ll be learning from real West End stars! These are performers who’ve wowed audiences in shows like Les Misérables, The Lion King and Matilda. They bring the energy, skill and experience of the stage straight to your sessions – and they’re passionate about passing it on to you!

As well as being successful performers, the team are patient and enthusiastic teachers, here to help you grow. With their expert guidance and love for what they do, they’ll help you build confidence, sharpen your skills and step into the spotlight.
