What an amazing and exciting week we have had at St. Hilda’s on the PUPP course. The students have been engaged and energised this week – from activities to excursions, they have been doing some awesome stuff.
On ‘Lazy Tuesday’ the students did their laundry and relaxed in the morning before having to use their skills to make their way through 4 escape rooms, set up by the counsellors.
A ‘prison’-themed activity put them the right mindset for Oxford castle and Prison on Wednesday, where the students explored the darker past of Oxford. A few students posed for pictures in the stockades. This followed onto a murder mystery night where the students were enlisted to help solve the murder of Professor Grimm with the help of Inspector Blair McDonald, who was revealed as the killer after a in-depth investigation by the students.
Thursday was a day of being immersed in the beauty of Bath’s architecture and exploring the life of Romans in Britain in the Roman baths. This was a big hit with the students and developed their interest in the UK’s wonderful cities.
After a day of studies on Friday, the students gathered together to try the counsellors for their various ‘crimes’ e.g., calling someone the wrong name, taking them the wrong way on an excursion etc etc…. This was a big hit with the students but not so much with the staff as it resulted in them being sprayed with water and having eggs cracked on their heads.
Saturday was a studious day culminating in an inspirational talk from an Oxford professor on creativity. Their final excursion on Sunday was spent in London with a tour of the amazing buildings and sites along the Thames, exploring St Paul’s cathedral and London Bridge. Leading them to further explore creativity in the Tate Modern.
This week has been such good fun for all students and staff, they have been a great group to be with over the last two weeks. We have seen a variation of different places and things and all experienced new things and challenged themselves in activity’s and lessons.
