It’s been another fantastic week here at St Hilda’s College, full of sunshine, sightseeing, and plenty of English learning. What a way to round off Bucksmore Summer 2025!
Tuesday was a relaxed “lazy day” for our students – a chance to unwind after a busy start to the week. In the afternoon, we strolled into Oxford and gave the students some free time to explore the city centre and browse the shops.
Wednesday brought both culture and adventure. We visited the iconic Christchurch College, where students enjoyed an immersive audio tour through its historic halls. With the sunshine on our side, the day continued with a lively scavenger hunt featuring code-breaking challenges and creative problem-solving.
On Thursday, we headed further afield to Bristol. A walking tour introduced students to some of the city’s highlights – The Cabot Tower, the vibrant harbour, and the fascinating M Shed Museum – before visiting the stunning Bristol Cathedral. There was also time for students to discover the city at their own pace during free time.
Saturday was one of the biggest days of the week – London! Before boarding our Thames boat at Southbank Pier, we made the most of our time with a mini walking tour, taking in Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, Number 10, Horse Guards Parade, and Trafalgar Square. Our boat ride took us to Greenwich, where we visited the Prime Meridian and the National Maritime Museum, with plenty of sunshine to keep spirits high. Students rounded off the day with some well-earned free time in this historic riverside district.
