Celebrating World Science Day for Peace and Development (10th of November 2025)

Your child won’t just learn science this summer — they’ll do science, in English, with friends from around the world.

Every year on 10 November, the world comes together to celebrate World Science Day for Peace and Development, a day that reminds us how science connects people, inspires innovation, and helps build a more peaceful, sustainable planet.

At Bucksmore, we see this every summer: classrooms filled with young scientists, engineers, and innovators from across the globe, collaborating, experimenting, and discovering in English. Our students don’t just study science; they live it. From building robots to coding smart systems, they learn that science is a shared language — one that transcends borders and sparks understanding between cultures.

Why this day matters to us (and to your family)

World Science Day is celebrated to highlight science’s role in society, encourage public engagement, and promote international cooperation. For our learners, that translates to hands-on experiences where scientific thinking meets intercultural teamwork, exactly the skills young people need to shape a fairer, more sustainable future.

At Bucksmore, your child will:

Some of the Science programmes students can take part in are:

English Plus Science Summer Camp (Ages 11-15)

Our English Plus Science summer camp blends academic English with hands-on STEM. It’s ideal for motivated students who want more than just English lessons.

Each week features themed workshops, led by expert external providers, such as:

  • Robotics — build and programme machines to complete challenges
  • Coding — develop programming skills and learn the logic behind technology
  • Forensic Science — step into a detective’s shoes with crime-scene science
  • Rockets — design, build and test rockets in thrilling engineering tasks

Alongside specialist sessions, students take engaging English lessons, work on collaborative projects, and join cultural excursions, strengthening communication and confidence through meaningful, context-rich learning.

Young Professionals (Ages 13–17)

Our Young Professionals summer camp is a two-week immersive programme that combines English with subject-specific learning and industry exposure. You’ll explore career paths while improving language and academic skills in a professional context.

Scientific Pathways include:

  • AI & Computer Science: Python programming, computational thinking, fundamentals of machine learning, problem-solving strategies, and a Capstone Project to industry standards (in collaboration with ComputerXplorers).
  • Medicine: systems-based learning (respiratory, cardiovascular, nervous, urinary, digestive), ethics and professionalism, simulations, E-Simulation Suite Day, Surgical Skills Workshop, and a Capstone Industry Project with Meducators UK.

By the end, you’ll have a portfolio that demonstrates technical ability, English communication, teamwork and project design — a strong foundation for higher education and future careers.

Learning Outcomes That Matter

Young Professionals AI & Computer Science — by the end, you will:

  • Develop English fluency through context-rich technical tasks;
  • Write, read and debug Python;
  • Apply algorithms, data structures and systematic problem-solving;
  • Explore machine learning, game theory and intelligent systems;
  • Build and present projects to industry standards;
  • Strengthen teamwork and communication through group challenges.

Young Professionals Medicine — by the end, students will:

  • Master subject-specific English and medical terminology;
  • Understand the cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, urinary and nervous systems;
  • Practise clinical assessments, diagnostics, dissections;
  • Engage in case-based and simulation-based learning;
  • Explore medical ethics and professional decision-making;
  • Compile a portfolio of case studies, practical skills and reflective learning.

World Science Day (10 November) “highlights the important role of science in society and the need to engage the wider public in debates on emerging scientific issues.” We link back to UNESCO’s purpose because it mirrors our own: open, collaborative, future-facing education where young people practise using knowledge for the common good.
