Our second and final week of summer school was filled with memorable experiences, iconic destinations and plenty of opportunities for students to learn more about British history, culture and university life.
Exploring Cambridge
The week included a visit to the Fitzwilliam Museum, where students explored its impressive collections of artwork and historical artefacts.
Students also experienced Cambridge from a different perspective during an evening of punting along the River Cam. It was a relaxed and enjoyable way to see the city’s historic colleges and bridges while spending time together outside the classroom.
A Royal & Political Day in London
Our London excursion combined history, politics and sightseeing. Students took part in a political walking tour, visiting famous landmarks including Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, the House of Commons and several other iconic buildings.
They also visited the Buckingham Palace State Rooms, giving them the opportunity to step inside one of the world’s most famous royal residences and learn more about its history.
The day ended with time for shopping and exploring Covent Garden, which proved to be a popular stop.
Discovering Oxford
Oxford was another highlight of the final week. Students attended a talk from The University Guys at St Hilda’s College, where they gained further insight into academic life and studying at a leading UK university.
Later that day, they visited Christ Church College, one of Oxford’s most historic and recognisable colleges. Students explored the college, admired its architecture and experienced the unique atmosphere of the city.
Creative and Cultural Evenings
Back at the centre, the evening programme remained varied and enjoyable. Students decorated their own T-shirts, creating personal souvenirs to take home.
We also gathered to watch the World Cup. Although England unfortunately did not win, the evening still created a lively atmosphere and brought everyone together.
Quiz Night and Hidden Talents
Quiz Night tested the students’ general knowledge, teamwork and competitive spirit.
The Talent Show was another memorable evening, with students performing dancing, juggling, football skills and many other hidden talents. It was wonderful to see everyone supporting one another and performing with confidence.
Graduation and the Final Party
The programme concluded with our graduation ceremony and final party.
Graduation recognised everything the students had achieved, both academically and personally. The final party then gave everyone the chance to celebrate, dance, take photographs and enjoy their last evening together.
Friendships and Lasting Memories
Perhaps the most rewarding part of the programme was seeing students from different countries and cultures mix so naturally.
Over the two weeks, friendships developed, confidence grew and students became increasingly comfortable sharing their personalities, cultures and ideas.
Although saying goodbye was difficult, the friendships and memories created during the programme will hopefully remain with the students long after they return home.
We wish every student the very best for the future and hope their summer school experience has inspired them to continue exploring, learning and connecting with people from around the world.
