A Dynamic Start to the Week
Week three at our OIC Brighton summer camp kicked off with a burst of energy. Following arrivals on Tuesday, our students immediately dove into a series of engaging activities and welcome games designed to foster camaraderie and break the ice. By Wednesday, the academic focus shifted into gear with induction sessions and initial English assessments, ensuring that every student was placed perfectly for their linguistic journey. The atmosphere was electric, setting the tone for a week defined by both collaborative learning and cultural discovery.
Exploring Iconic Landmarks
Our excursion schedule for the week offered a perfect blend of history and coastal charm. On Friday, students travelled to the historic city of Canterbury. The group enjoyed relaxing Wildlife Park and a guided tour of the magnificent Canterbury Cathedral, providing a wonderful opportunity to immerse themselves in England’s rich heritage. The excitement continued into Sunday, when our campers headed to London. Whether navigating the Royals and Politics Walking Tour or exploring the opulent Buckingham Palace State Rooms, our students gained invaluable insights into British culture, making for truly memorable experiences outside the classroom.
Creativity and Competition
Beyond the excursions, the middle of the week was packed with hands-on projects and spirited challenges. Thursday was dedicated to intensive International Week project preparation, culminating later in the week with final presentations that showcased our students’ hard work and innovative thinking on different cultures and countries. The evenings were equally vibrant, featuring a fast-paced ‘Battle of the Brains’ competition, a thrilling Murder Mystery event, and a relaxing Film Night. Furthermore, specialized workshops—ranging from active sports choices and windsurfing to imaginative comic strip creation—ensured that there was something to spark the interest of every camper, allowing them to hone their skills while having a fantastic time.
A Balanced Approach to Growth
As we rounded off the week on Monday, the focus returned to core English studies, providing a structured conclusion to a busy schedule. This blend of intensive language learning, cultural excursions, and creative workshops highlights the core philosophy of our program: fostering both academic growth and personal development. As the week concluded with a classic British Evening, it was clear that our students had not only improved their English proficiency but had also built lasting friendships and created memories that will undoubtedly last long after the summer camp concludes.
