Stepping Back in Time
Our week began with a visit to the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford. Students spent the morning exploring galleries filled with everything from ancient Egyptian mummies and Roman artefacts to incredible paintings and sculptures. There was plenty to discover, and everyone had their own favourite exhibits by the end of the visit. It was a brilliant opportunity to experience one of the world’s oldest museums right in the heart of Oxford.
Trash Fashion
Back on campus, creativity took over with one of the week’s most entertaining activities – our Trash Fashion Show. Working in teams, students transformed everyday recycled materials into eye-catching outfits. Newspaper became dresses, cardboard became armour, and plastic bags somehow turned into runway-ready outfits.
The runway show was full of energy and laughter as each team proudly presented their designs. From elegant gowns to futuristic costumes, every group brought something completely different, making it incredibly difficult for the judges to choose the winners.
A Day in Windsor
Midweek, we headed to the historic town of Windsor. Students enjoyed wandering through the streets, exploring the shops and taking in the atmosphere before visiting the impressive Windsor Castle.
Walking through one of the King’s official residences was a real highlight, with students fascinated by the history, architecture and grandeur of the castle. The sunshine made it the perfect day to explore, and there was even time to pick up a few souvenirs before heading home.
Buckingham Palace and Covent Garden
The biggest excursion of the week took us to Buckingham Palace, where students had the chance to step inside the magnificent State Rooms. The grand staircases, sparkling chandeliers and beautifully decorated rooms gave everyone a glimpse into one of the most famous royal residences in the world, and it certainly didn’t disappoint.
After leaving the palace, we headed to Covent Garden. Students explored the famous market, browsed the independent shops and watched the talented street performers who always bring the area to life. Whether they were shopping, grabbing an ice cream or simply enjoying the atmosphere, it was the perfect way to round off the day.
From discovering ancient artefacts in Oxford to exploring royal palaces and turning rubbish into runway fashion, this week has been packed with memorable experiences. Every activity has helped students build confidence, make new friendships and experience British culture in a fun and engaging way.
