Students attending a Bucksmore summer programme receive a combination of English language tuition and a comprehensive activity programme including up to two full day-excursions and one half-day trip every week. There are activities every afternoon and evening with the excursions and trips spread throughout the week. The Bucksmore philosophy is for students to mix with their fellow students and staff to make their time with us a rich and truly international cultural experience.

The Centre Manager (CM) is responsible for the smooth operation of the centre. It is the most senior position at the centre, where you will be in charge of all aspects of its day-to-day management: from ensuring staff and student welfare, managing finance, quality control, staffing and accommodation to dealing with clients and liaising with College staff.

Director of Studies
The Director of Studies is responsible for the academic management of the centre and ensuring the teaching and learning component of the programme is delivered to the highest possible standards. A DoS needs to have good inter-personal skills, a high level of teaching experience, and be an excellent organiser. A DELTA, Trinity Diploma or MA TESOL (with teaching practice) is an essential requirement as well as the ability to manage and support a team of teachers.

English language teaching staff should have either the CELTA, Trinity Cert TESOL or a PGCE in English, Modern Foreign Languages or Primary Education. Counsellors are responsible for planning and delivering lessons from the Bucksmore syllabus. Counsellors also take part in activities and pastoral care, thus playing an essential part in ensuring that students who attend our programmes have an unforgettable educational experience in a safe, caring environment.

Advanced Studies Program Counsellor
Non-teaching Counsellors are required on the Advanced Studies Program. Counsellors will be responsible for the delivery of their specialist workshop, and therefore must have a background in drama, creative writing, journalism, photography, business or debating. This is a residential role, so Counsellors will also take an active part in pastoral care, activities and excursions.

Activity Leaders lead the students’ social programme. You should have a genuine enthusiasm to work with young people and be able to work independently, flexibly and as part of a team. The social programme consists of onsite activities (sports, drama, music, games, discos, etc.) and excursions to other parts of the UK. You will also be the first contact for groups when they arrive at the airport. This is the main non-residential role at Bucksmore and we do not have many Activity Leader positions due to the nature of our EFL Counsellor role.

Tutors – Specialist Programmes
Tutors on our Advanced Studies Program and other specialist programmes teach specific subjects to students from across the world. All our Tutors need to have experience of tutoring, Higher education in the relevant subject area and enthusiasm to teach motivated and bright young adults.
