Bowling Championship, London, and Music Bingo at St Hilda’s
This week at the amazingly awesome centre that is St Hilda’s, students have enjoyed a variety of activities and excursions. The week started with a super fun Music Bingo – most points won by the Brazilian team! On Wednesday after a lovely barbecue by the river at the college students set off to Hollywood Bowl where they played two rounds of bowling, tried their luck on claw machines and arcade games. Many of them discovered bowling was their secret talent, with Massimo proving himself to be an absolute champion by scoring an impressive 142 points and achieving 4 strikes!! In the evening the students took part in the Bucksmore Olympic Games in the park, where their crab walking skills, wheel barrel racing abilities, and water balloon passing expertise were put to test!
Our first full day excursion of the week was to London, much to the delight of all the students. London greeted us with sun and unusually high temperatures. The London Eye capsules allowed us to admire the amazing views of the Thames, the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, and St. Paul’s that they had been to on previous trips. Next up we visited the British Museum, where students saw Egyptian mummies and the Rosetta Stone. We ended our walk on Oxford street, also known as shopping heaven! Students had some free time exploring the area before we made our way back to the college.
Friday was yet another fun-filled day! We celebrated Bucksmore’s 40thbirthday by competing against other centres in tournaments at Plumpton College, and enjoying a summer fete and barbecue. Our students learned a haka dance, prepared posters and banners to cheer our teams. We lost dodgeball, came second in volleyball seniors and football seniors! The teams did really well, great effort and amazingly awesome teamwork!
It’s been a super fun week so far here at St Hilda’s and we look forward to more awesomeness in the coming days!
