Brasenose Student Discusses their Academic Bucksmore Experience
The Bucksmore experience is one of a kind. Here at the Advanced Studies Programme in Oxford we learn how to develop our own way of thinking and analysing in order to achieve our full potential.
Choosing only two academic courses was by far the most difficult challenge I had to tackle due to the vast variety of interesting subjects. I ended up studying International Business Management and Psychology and I truly believe I could not have chosen a combination to suit me better, as I find both courses fascinating.
In Psychology we learned about different types of human behaviour and the origins of our thoughts and emotions. Every student conducted his own psychological experiment and analysed the ethics of it. The lessons were always interactive and enjoyable as we mostly learned from videos or creative experiments.
In International Business Management I developed my analytical thinking and social skills. We learned about how businesses work and what are the challenges many of them have to face. Our kind teacher always made sure that everyone engaged in the conversation and succeeded in sparking our interest with challenging topics.
Apart from the tutorials, we also attended several Masterclasses and Workshops that were meant to improve our academic excellence. My confidence and communication skills did certainly improve thanks to the Interview Skills Class and in Debate I learned how to successfully and efficiently sustain my arguments.
Given the engaging courses and the wonderful people I had the opportunity to meet and create memories with, Bucksmore is definitely the academic programme I deeply wish every single student will have the chance to experience. It definitely gave me a different perspective over the world and made me become aware of my potential in a way I have never felt before.
