Coronavirus (COVID-19) update
Last updated 13 July 2020
We’re ready for ‘the new normal’
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we cancelled our regular summer school programmes for 2020 but with the easing of restrictions in the UK and many parts of the world, we are hoping to hold two new residential courses in Oxford.
From last Friday visitors to England no longer have to self-isolate on arrival if they are from certain designated countries, known as travel corridors, marking an important return to normality. Under the current government advice, residential summer schools are not yet able to resume. But we’re ready for when that changes.
We have created these courses for August so that we are prepared to safely welcome students if and when that advice changes. For this reason, students will be able to reserve their place from today but we will not take payment until one week before they travel. If the courses are able to run, we hope that they will enable students to make the most of the end of summer and start travelling again safely.
Our safety measures
The courses are designed to maximise the health and safety of our staff and students. We intend to implement a range of safety measures to minimise the risk of spreading and/or contracting COVID-19. You can read them in full here: Bucksmore COVID-19 Measures for Summer Schools August 2020.
- Single bedrooms for all students
- One-way system in place in all areas
- Desks at least 1 meter between students
- Hand sanitiser at all locations
- COVID-19 training for all staff
- Open-air excursions only
While the plans we have today are suitable for current restrictions and guidelines, we will continue to adapt and respond, as we have throughout the crisis, for the benefit of everyone’s health and safety.
If you’re still not able to join us in person, don’t worry you don’t need to miss out. We have a few final places remaining on our Virtual Summer Schools. Plus, you can now join us for 1:1 Online Tutorials with our database of expert tutors. So, wherever you are in the world you can keep reaching your academic goals with Bucksmore.
We look forward to seeing you again both in-person and online! Stay safe and well.
