15 English + 7.5 STEM
Expert-led STEM Workshops
With 15 hours of English language tuition each week and a maximum class size of 11 students, plus 7.5 hours of STEM classes per week, STEM Experience offers the opportunity for students to improve their English both in the classroom and also with a truly international community during the afternoon workshops.
STEM Experience can cater for all levels of English, from beginner through to advanced.
The age range for students at STEM Experience is 10-13.
Students share English lessons with students on Bucksmore Summer. During some periods of the week, students are separated from the main group to take part in their chosen specialism.
Lessons are taught through a combination of general English tuition, project sessions, academic English, conversation classes and excursion link lessons.
This course will help students to build language skills and confidence gradually through our multi-level syllabus and spark an interest in science, technology, engineering and maths as future options.
To provide students with an even greater holistic language learning experience, we provide lessons specifically linked to the destinations they visit on their excursions.
Project sessions enable students to use English for the completion of real-world tasks with an authentic purpose. Students receive vocabulary and grammar input in the first part of the project session and are then placed into groups. Groups are provided with a project guideline which they should follow and aim to complete in the preparation session. The weekly project culminates in a presentation evening in which groups display and present their work.
We work with external experts to help bring topics to life. Past providers have included Learn by Layers who provide interactive 3D workshops where student are taught how to create a 3D printed customised smartphone case.
Taken at the end of the course, the assessment is designed to complement the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) and to provide learners with a realistic determination of their English ability. It can be applied against other international English exams such as Cambridge ESOL & IELTS. Students will leave the course with a certificate of recommended English level measured against the CEFR scale.
The social programme is an important part of any summer school experience and is great way for students to socialise and practise their English with each other.
Organised by a dedicated Activity Manager, each week students will have two full days and one half-day excursion to destinations across the UK, plus an on-site activity programme.

We take great pride in the excellence of our academic content, the excitement of our social programme, and most importantly, the safety and wellbeing of all Bucksmore students.
Every Bucksmore location has a residential management team, and a minimum staff-student ratio of 1:7. There is always a trained first aider on-site, and students are supervised 24 hours a day.
Bucksmore offers a complimentary airport transfer service on transfer days for flights arriving/departing between 10:00 and 20:00. We can also provide an Unaccompanied Minor service for pick-up and drop-off. Students are looked after from when they land to when their flight departs.
Each location has a Centre Manager, Activity Manager and Director of Studies available for all students to approach with any problems. Bucksmore Counsellors are more than just teachers; they provide a high level of care and guidance for all students. All staff are background checked.
High staff to student ratios ensure all students are looked after. Bucksmore summer schools strive to create a warm and welcoming “family atmosphere” where all students and Counsellors know each other well.
