Covid Measures Christmas Home Tuition Course
This page has been set up to outline the COVID measures in place on our Christmas Home Tuition course. It will be updated on a regular basis. (Last Updated 10:29 4 November 2020)
Before the start of the course, all Home Tuition teachers complete a specific COVID risk assessment for their home. This allows them to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID within the home. This risk assessment can be sent to students/parents upon request.
When arriving at the teacher’s home students will be expected to take their own luggage to their room to minimise contact. For younger students and those unable, teacher will help if needed. The teacher will give the student an orientation of the home, highlighting any COVID measures and procedures that are in place.
Lessons will be set-up in a way that avoids students being face-to-face with their teacher. To avoid using shared resources students should bring their own learning materials with them; pens, paper etc. Ideally, students will have their own laptop/tablet to allow for resources to be shared electronically
Where excursions are able to take place these will ideally be to local, outdoor destinations where possible. If available, travel will take place using the teacher’s private vehicle. Where public transport is the only option students will have to wear a mask whilst travelling and wash their hands as soon as possible after the journey. Teachers will remind students to maintain social distancing when on the excursion and to wear a mask where required.
All Home Tuition teachers are provided with specific guidance to ensure regular thorough home cleaning. This includes paying particular attention to high touch areas of the home such as door handles, light switches and taps. Students will need to clean their own bedroom in the home with cleaning supplies supplied by the teacher.
Teachers have been favoured who are able to offer a private bathroom for student use during the course. Where there is only a shared bathroom available this will be cleaned on a daily basis.
In general, younger students under 16 are not permitted to have unsupervised free time during a Home Tuition course. Students over 16 may be allowed free time at the teacher’s discretion. Where free time is permitted students will have a full orientation of the local area as well as being reminded when to wear a mask and social distancing measures they should abide by.
During the course, if a student displays COVID symptoms guidance will be sought from the NHS and/or Public Health England. Initially, the student would need to immediately self-isolate in their room within the home. A COVID test would then be sought for the student as soon as possible. Until the result is returned the student will need to remain self-isolating in their room. Meals will be brought to the student and the teacher will regularly check on their welfare and wellbeing. If a negative test result is returned the course can continue as planned. If a positive test is returned the student will need to remain in their room for 10 days. If after 10 days they do not have any symptoms, or only displays a cough or changes to smell and taste they will be allowed to leave their room and continue the course. During any isolation period, lessons and activities will be suspended. If the self-isolation period extends beyond the planned end of the course, Bucksmore will work in consultation with the student’s parents and school to ensure the student misses as little of their schooling as possible. The option to remain at the teacher’s home for the self-isolation period may be possible if required, and the cost for this will be passed to the parent.
Due to the changing nature of the COVID pandemic, these measures will be regularly reviewed and are likely to change at short notice in order to comply with UK government guidance and regulation. We will try to provide updated guidance should these measures change drastically but this may not always be possible.
Further information will be provided for students at the time of booking.
