Highlights of 2019 – Bucksmore’s biggest year yet
We’ve have put together a list of our highlights for 2019 and what a year we’ve had! As we enter the holiday season, it’s the perfect time to look back our biggest year yet.
Celebrating our 40th birthday
First, 2019 was an extra special year for Bucksmore as we celebrated our 40th anniversary. Therefore, to mark the occasion we had a massive party with partners and students from all centres coming together in July for a fun-filled day at Plumpton College.
STEM Experience launch a rocket into space
Next, we couldn’t forget STEM Experience. Students had a summer of exciting hands-on workshops, but our favourite has to be seeing the Bucksmore water bottle launched into space.
If you missed it, take a look at our video:
Young Leaders solving the nuclear crisis
Our Young Leaders took on one of the major geopolitical issues solving the nuclear crisis. The project culminated in a Model United Nations held in the grand settings of Corpus Christi College’s main hall in the University of Cambridge.

Another exciting event for our Young Leaders was their opportunity to speak at the Museum of London. Speaking in such an iconic London venue during their programme was an excellent opportunity to put their public speaking skills to the test.
Sailing on the Brighton coast
Meanwhile, at the end of July, students on Bucksmore Adventure set sail on the Brighton coast. It was a thrilling day. Students got to try their hand at sailing and learnt how boats and sails work.
Spending our first summer in the USA
Like our adventurers at Plumpton, some of our pioneering students enjoyed Bucksmore’s first adventure to the USA. From watching fireworks on the 4th July in Philadelphia to exploring Time Square and the Statue of Liberty in New York, it was truly a summer to remember. For 2020 we will be taking on New York, and we can’t wait!
Winning Language Educator of the Year
Finally, we were delighted to win our Language Educator of the Year from the PIEoneer Awards. It was wonderful to be recognised for the dedication and innovation that goes into creating our courses each year.
Thank you to all our staff, students, parents and partners for making this such an incredible year.
