Casino Night at Kings College London

No sooner have our students settled in, unpacked their suitcases, located the closest supermarkets for their late night sugar fixes and formed fast friendships than it’s nearly time to return home. However, before they leave week 2 has provided our students with more sightseeing and photo opportunities. After a much-needed rest on Lazy Tuesday, with the more energetic amongst us going on a walking tour around the River Thames, we went to the British Museum on Wednesday afternoon.

Students were set the challenge to locate the Rosetta Stone, the Parthenon and the Lewis Chessmen. As a reward for a job well done, many of them will get to enjoy pizza at our graduation party on Monday. After a picnic in nearby Russell Square, we made our way to theatreland to see the West End musical Aladdin, based on the Disney classic. With glitter galore and magic carpets aplenty it was a welcome distraction and both staff and students had a great time.

On Thursday night we witnessed a competitive streak as the Bucksmore Casino opened for business for one night only. The most popular games were by far poker and roulette. Ece and Fiona traded in their chips for the star prizes, a King’s college hoody and a box of Cadbury’s milk tray. Friday we took the train to beautiful Cambridge where are students tried and succeeded at punting, the classic past time for the Oxbridge crowd.

We still have 3 days left and we are looking forward to the London Bridge Experience, the London Eye and the Tower of London (you can see a theme developing here).
