It’s been a fun packed and a busy first week here at Kings College London. As our lovely students have navigated their way between buildings, the busy streets of London and classrooms, they’ve also managed to fit in shopping trips, walking tours, a theme park, viewing England’s victory in the quarter-final against Sweden and some fun and games as a group.
We kicked off Wednesday with some games in beautiful Green Park, followed by a leisurely walk from Buckingham Palace to Westminster. On route they saw St. James’ Park, the Mall, Trafalgar Square and our favourite hang out here at Bucksmore London-Covent Garden! Many a selfie was taken throughout and we cooled down from the blazing heat with some ice creams and cold drinks.
On Friday we ventured outside London to Thorpe Park, where the thrill seekers amongst us braved the longest queues to go on the biggest rollercoasters such as Stealth, Colossus and Detonator. On Saturday we watched as England beat Sweden in the semi-finals. Football’s coming home!
Sunday afternoon was the moment they had waited for all week-shopping in Oxford Street!! Emptier pockets but heavier suitcases for all! Hooray!
Our Thursday evening activity was an oldie but a goodie-Banzai. Teamwork paid off for Stars, the overall winners of the night, who braved the marmite challenge, got messy with foam and attempted to eat a variety of foods in various unconventional ways. Special mention must go to Marina for attacking her plate of marmite like no other contestant.
We’re preparing for week 2! Bring on the fun and come on England!
