Our dream travel destinations
The sea lapping at your feet, the bustle of a new city, or the calm of a majestic mountain range – what is your dream travel destination once we’re able to get moving again?
Inspired by initiatives such as the UN-led #traveltomorrow and Irish Independent writer Pól Ó Conghaile’s #whenwetravelagain, we’ve been drooling over dream destinations around the world. With travel on hold around the world, we’ve selected the top places that we’re yearning to travel to as soon as we (safely) can.
Top 5 dream travel destinations
Galway made it into many “best places to travel in 2020” lists including Lonely Planet and Conde Naste. While the current crisis means it hasn’t been able to make the most of its status as the 2020 European Capital of Culture, we still can’t wait to visit Ireland’s most talked-about city.
New York City, USA
Ok, it’s home to our Young Professionals USA programme, so we’re slightly biased about this dream travel destination. We can’t wait to be back to New York City! We’re looking forward to enjoying the sun in Central Park, taking in a show on Broadway, or being awestruck by the world’s best skyline. If you want some more inspiration of what you can do when you get there, take a look at our favourite things to do in New York.
Did you know that Costa Rica accounts for only 0.03% of the earth’s surface but has 6% of the world’s biodiversity? Home to rainforests, beaches, river valleys, Costa Rica has 27 national parks and is full of wildlife including hummingbirds, iguanas, sea turtles, and sloths. Costa Rica is also one of the happiest countries on the planet! What more can you want from a dream travel destination?
Edinburgh, United Kingdom
Always a student favourite during our British Heritage Tour summer programme, another dream travel destination is Edinburgh. Edinburgh is a hub of all the best things about Scotland – rich history, unique culture and beautiful scenery. It is also home to the world’s largest arts festival, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. We can’t wait to have our sides split at the rescheduled Fringe festival in 2021.
Perhaps our favourite dream travel destination has got to be Tokyo! This phenomenal city blends the ultra-modern with ancient culture and traditions. We’d love to visit for the rescheduled Olympics.
