Plumpton College kicks off the summer!

As the sun rose on the dawn of June 28th, Plumpton bristled with anticipation as Bucksmore students started to arrive. There had been such a long wait to get international students back into the centre and we certainly started with a bang!

In the evening welcome games were played and enjoyed with enthusiasm and vigour. Wednesday was the first day of our academic program and the students wasted no time in displaying their exceptional English skills, after that they descended on the beautiful and iconic city of Brighton, taking in the sights and enjoying the historic pier. Thursday was our first major outing to the country’s capital city of London, and it’s a pleasure to say that the students were impeccably behaved while taking in the amazing exhibits in the British Museum, and then leaving no stone unturned in Covent Garden where they relaxed and got some much-needed retail therapy. Friday brought about a full-on Academic day which culminated in them using their creative juices to produce their very own computer game ideas in the Bucky gaming expo (the winners of which received a pizza party). On Saturday, Portsmouth didn’t know what had hit it as Plumpton’s fantastic group of students arrived at the historic dockyard to experience the rich culture that Britain’s finest naval fleet has to offer, the highlight of which is HMS victory which played host to Admiral Nelson’s most famous battle and ensuing triumph. They then relaxed by the English Channel and returned to the centre where the students had great fun showing off their collective creative flair in trash fashion. Sunday brought about another academic day on which the students were in lessons in the morning, enjoyed sports in the afternoon and then presented their games in the evening during the gaming expo.

Our fun-filled week finished in style, with lessons in the morning, sports and save the egg in the afternoon and a sunset walk up the beautiful south downs where a photo challenge took place, with the best photo winning a prize. We are looking forward to the second week of this summer program, with new faces arriving and even more fun on the agenda!
