It is not unusual for your child to feel a little unsure in the first few days, and therefore be in touch with you more than usual. Everything is new - new people, new bedroom, new people and everything is in English! Our counsellors are there to spot small worries like this before it becomes a problem. Our activities are designed to help your child make friends quickly, keep busy and settle in. In the first few days you can help by reassuring your child too, and urging them to speak to any member of staff if they are feeling homesick. We'll then make sure they have the extra support and monitoring they need.

Yes, your child can keep their phone with them however we would not permit them to use it during lessons and activities where they are engaging with other students. Sometimes students use their phones to research information for projects during class time, in which case it would be supervised and they would need to follow the teacher's instructions. Of course, for a lot of the time, we'll expect their phones to be away so we can concentrate on speaking, discussing, laughing and playing in English!

Yes, your child can attend as a day student. We would recommend our residential options as a great way for your child to meet other students and get involved in all the activities, but we understand that sometimes a day camp may be the best option. It would be the responsibility of the parent or guardian to bring your child to the camp each day before the first lesson of the day. The price for day students will be quoted at a discounted rate, please contact us for more information.

At the end of your course, you will receive a Certificate of Attendance. If you attend for more than 1 week, you will also receive an Assessment Report Card to evidence your progress. This will be given to you at the end of your stay with us. There will also be a graduation ceremony and party to mark the end of the course!

Everything is included in the price, from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave. When you book onto a Bucksmore course, your accommodation, food (three meals a day and packed lunch on excursion days), tuition and academic materials, activity fees, entrance costs to excursions, insurance and UK airport transfers (conditions apply) are included as part of your course fees. Flights and visa costs are not included.

We recommend giving your child £50 per week of their course. All other costs are included in our pricing (course fees, meals, airport transfers, insurance, excursions and attractions, and academic materials). When your child arrives, we will keep their passport and pocket money safe for them and they can request to take money out before excursions where they'll have the chance to do some shopping.

The Bucksmore English course includes 20 hours of English language tuition and the Intensive English and IELTS Preparation courses have 25 hours of English language tuition each week. The Intensive English course content is designed to be challenging and to build your understanding and confidence of using English more quickly. The IELTS Preparation course is designed to improve English language skills whilst also preparing you for the IELTS exam.
