What is a Film & Digital Communication Summer Camp?
This summer film course in London summer camp at Bucksmore immerses students in the fast-paced world of professional filmmaking. Through collaborative group projects, screenwriting workshops and first-hand filmmaking experience students will get to practice the entire process of making a film, from script to screen.
Living on campus encourages teamwork and collaboration, while excursions in London - such as to a Virtual Production wall - offer first-hand exposure to one of the world’s most important centres of filmmaking.
Subject Overview
In a video-first world, young people are increasingly expected to communicate ideas visually, present themselves confidently and understand how digital content shapes opinion and engagement.

Capstone Industry Project
Students will work in small production teams to develop, shoot and present a short film in response to a real-world creative brief. Acting as a professional filmmaking unit, each group will take a project from concept through to final screening, learning how ideas are shaped, communicated and refined in a video-first world.
The project emphasises collaboration, creativity and communication, mirroring how film and digital content are developed in professional environments. While students gain hands-on filmmaking skills, the focus is equally on transferable abilities such as teamwork, leadership, problem-solving and presenting ideas with clarity and impact.

The addition of an exciting and varied activity and excursion programmes embedded in the timetable, ensures students will have a well-rounded and powerful two weeks studying on the Young Professionals Film & Digital Communication course.
Example Industry Workshops
Industry Pitching Experience to a panel of professionals
At the end of the programme, students pitch their film projects in a boardroom to a panel of industry professionals, who have first-hand experience of pitching to commissioners.
This develops confidence, presentation skills and an understanding of how creative ideas are shared in professional settings.
Virtual Production Experience with Epic Games partnership
Students take part in an introduction to Virtual Production delivered in partnership with Epic Games, creators of Fortnite.
This session explores how real-time digital environments are used in modern film, television and games, giving students insight into cutting-edge creative technology.

Your accommodation will be based at King’s College London, set in one of the capital’s most energetic central locations. The student residence sits just over Waterloo Bridge, within easy reach of famous sights such as the London Eye. You’ll have your own private en-suite room, with shared kitchen facilities available within each flat.

Our Teachers
Our teachers are selected to replicate the premium educational experiences of top UK universities and boarding schools. They also know how to take learning and teaching outside the classroom and see every input and experience as an opportunity to learn and grow.
Jack Cameron
Jack attended the London Film School’s MA Filmmaking Programme. Following the completion of his graduation film, Jack graduated from the course as a director in 2024 and has been working in the film industry ever since. Jack has worked in a number of different film roles, ranging from sound recording and mixing to producing and production managing. He has co-founded a production company, and made their first company production last summer and which will hopefully start its festival run in 2026. In addition to film work, Jack is also a part-time teacher, teaching film and filmmaking to kids and young adults across London. And is also, an albeit occasionally unwilling actor! For as long as he can remember Jack has had a deep love for all things cinema, and more-or-less has the entirety of IMDb imprinted on the inside of his brain.
Excursions
Our course programme includes two full-day industry workshops, plus three excursions per week. Two of the excursions are full-day and one is half-day. You can see an example two-week programme below.
Oxford: Museum of Oxford
On this half-day excursion you will visit the only museum all about Oxford. The Museum tells the story of Oxford and its people through a range of social history objects and interactive displays.
Thames River Boat Cruise & Royal Museums Greenwich
Step aboard a cruise to Greenwich via the River Thames, taking in some of London’s world-famous sights along the way.
After lunch, you will explore the Cutty Sark, a historic sailing ship which was the fastest of its time!
Thorpe Park
Thorpe Park is a theme park located in Surrey, England with over 30 rides, attractions and live events.
You will be able to experience record-breaking roller coasters, water rides, and seasonal events alongside your new friends!
London: Buckingham Palace & Politics Walking Tour
You will embark on a walking tour of key locations relating to London’s rich political and royal history.
You’ll also visit the historic vibrant market area of Covent Garden. Following lunch you will enjoy a tour of the magnificent State Rooms of Buckingham Palace.
Oxford: Christ Church College
On this half-day excursion you will visit Christ Church College, an Oxford college and a city Cathedral sharing a unique historic space.
You’ll discover that Christ Church is an academic institution and a place of great historical significance.
Cambridge
Visit Cambridge and experience its historic waterways via a punting trip on the River Cam.
You will also have time to explore one of the 31 Colleges that make up the University of Cambridge – King’s College – founded by King Henry VI in 1441.
The Film & Digital Communication course timetable
The Buckmore Young Professionals courses are designed as a two week programme to allow your child the opportunity to complete the Capstone Industry project. Students wanting to stay for four weeks should choose a different subject option for the remaining two weeks. We will have different and varied excursions each week.

Travel and transfers
The moment you touch down in the UK, you’ll be looked after by Bucksmore staff. At the arrivals gate you’ll be met by one of our representatives and be escorted to your complimentary transfer or exclusive airport lounge (Heathrow only) to wait for your transfer.
If you’re using an airline unaccompanied minor service, you’ll be accompanied by airport staff to the Bucksmore representative on arrival, and we’ll also assist you on departure and wait with you until handed over to airport staff for your flight home.
