The Bucksmore Young Professionals Theatre and Performing Arts course experience

The objective of the Young Professionals Theatre and Performing Arts course is to simultaneously enhance students' subject knowledge and language proficiency, with a primary focus on the development of English language fluency, through meaningful, context-rich learning experiences. This approach fosters critical thinking and communication skills while promoting cultural awareness and the practical application of skills in real-world contexts.

This course teaches West End performance through practical demonstrations and exercises. Here’s an overview of what we put into it and what you will get out of it:

What is a Young Professionals Theatre and Performing Arts Summer Camp?

A Young Professionals Theatre & Performing Arts summer camp at Bucksmore in London offers high school students the opportunity to develop their talents in acting, dance, and drama.

Taught by professionals from London’s West End, our theatre arts summer camps include workshops that focus on performance techniques, stage presence, and creative expression. Students will build confidence and refine their skills in a supportive environment.

Alongside living on campus, students will also explore London’s vibrant theatre scene through excursions, making it an unforgettable learning experience.

Subject Overview

Taught by West End professionals, you will gain a first-hand experience of the performing arts industry through tuition in acting, singing, dancing, stage-combat and puppetry, as well as taking part in West End workshops and watching West End shows.

Bucksmore Education recognises that the performing arts play a significant role in developing a persons creativity, confidence, coordination, language and communication skills.

By partnering with a top West End theatre company West End On Demand, you will receive first hand experience of the industry and a true taste of West End Theatre.

At all stages of life the skills learned in this genre can be transferred and help you develop and reach your full potential in education and beyond.

At the end of the 2-week course there will be a final performance followed by an award ceremony.

The addition of an exciting and varied activity and excursion programmes embedded in the timetable, ensures students will have a well-rounded and powerful two weeks studying on the Young Professionals Theatre & Performing Arts course.

Experience what it is like to audition for a West End show in a fun and relaxed environment.

Your group will learn tricks and tips from a West End cast member and the workshop includes West End audition dance routines, singing, audition songs, sight reading and preparing audition text.

Taught by a qualified stage combat instructor, you’ll get to grips with the basics of stage combat and discover how actors make a fight look convincing.

The workshop will include unarmed combat techniques, how to perform stage fight choreography and how to fight safely.

Singing Workshop

Sing like a West End professional in our West End singing workshop.

Your group will be provided with a lyric sheet or sheet music from a West End show of your choice whilst working on technique, harmony, acting through song and performance.

Discover the basics of film and TV acting whilst we focus on performance choices and the differences between theatre and television.

Your group will then get to learn what happens at a TV casting and practice a mock audition.

Learn the basics of puppetry and how to create a puppet character in this fun workshop taught by an experienced puppeteer.

This is a fantastic way to be creative with your group, and work on concentration, focus, imagination and creativity.

Travel and transfers

The moment you touch down in the UK, you’ll be looked after by Bucksmore staff. At the arrivals gate you’ll be met by one of our representatives and be escorted to your complimentary transfer or exclusive airport lounge (Heathrow only) to wait for your transfer.

If you’re using an airline unaccompanied minor service, you’ll be accompanied by airport staff to the Bucksmore representative on arrival, and we’ll also assist you on departure and wait with you until handed over to airport staff for your flight home.

Our online application process takes around 5 minutes to complete. You will need to enter the details of the student, including their passport number and current school. It's also important that we gather parents and guardians information as well. 

To reserve a space on this course, a £500 reservation fee is required, payable by credit card or online bank transfer. See our cancellation and refund policy. Upon completion of your application, we can provide pre-enrolment documents including a visa support letter.
