What is an AI and Computer Science course?

The Pre-University Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence course at Bucksmore prepares students for university-level study in computing, robotics, and emerging AI fields.

The Course in Detail

We think this is one of the best computer science summer courses as it not only provides an immersive introduction to computer science and AI, but it also balances theory with practical experimentation.

Students begin by building foundations in algorithms, programming, and robotics before progressing to advanced topics such as vision-based AI, cybersecurity, and object-oriented programming.

Collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving are at the heart of the programme. Students apply their learning in a final robotics challenge, demonstrating creativity, technical proficiency, and teamwork.

  • Programming Foundations: Learn Python coding fundamentals, from variables and loops to conditionals and control structures.

  • Robotics & Hardware: Explore how hardware and software interact through projects using Raspberry Pi–powered autonomous cars.

  • Algorithms & Problem-Solving: Design and implement algorithms for tasks such as obstacle avoidance and maze navigation.

  • Computer Vision & AI Concepts: Use libraries like OpenCV to develop vision-based decision-making in robotics, and compare traditional rule-based logic to machine learning.

Travel and transfers

The moment you touch down in the UK, you’ll be looked after by Bucksmore staff. At the arrivals gate you’ll be met by one of our representatives and be escorted to your complimentary transfer or exclusive airport lounge (Heathrow only) to wait for your transfer.

If you’re using an airline unaccompanied minor service, you’ll be accompanied by airport staff to the Bucksmore representative on arrival, and we’ll also assist you on departure and wait with you until handed over to airport staff for your flight home.

To reserve a space on this course, a £500 reservation fee is required, payable by credit card or online bank transfer. See our cancellation and refund policy. Upon completion of your application, we can provide pre-enrolment documents including a visa support letter.
