Leadership requires a minimum of intermediate (B1) level English.
This course is suitable for students ages 14-17.
Led by Kathie Knell this course focuses on developing key leadership skills. Kathie has 24 years’ experience in developing and designing leadership and management solutions, largely spent as a British Army Officer, receiving an MBE for her work in 2010 and was on the NATO Committee on Gender Perspectives. She has undertaken roles in international, governmental and charitable organisations including the United Nations, Help the Heroes, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and RedR UK.
During the first week, students will work on a charity fundraising project, and during the second week, students will develop a concept to take to market and present that to that undergoes a Dragon’s Den-style interrogation.
Students will gain a deeper understanding of what drives them as a leader by exploring personality types, leadership styles, motivation. They will also explore key management tools, problem-solving, organisational culture, stress management and personal growth. Students will learn what it takes to be a leader of the future developing their understanding of leadership in a VUCA world (volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous) and other challenges.
What is the course structure?
Students will have 40 hours of contact time over two-weeks, including 15 hours of leadership workshops and 15 hours of leadership project work, plus eight hours of skills and careers workshops and two hours of guest speakers. Sessions have been carefully structured so students around the world can join us in most time zones.
