Week Two at d’ Overbroecks Went by in a Flash!
On Tuesday while our staff were welcoming and accommodating the new students, most of our students were excited to go and watch the new Spider-man movie. The more active students that felt like spending their day outdoors had the chance to do some sports and enjoy the lovely Oxford countryside. Once all our new students had arrived a Musical Bingo was set up to get the students to know each other.
On Wednesday the school canteen was transformed to Las Vegas! Students were more than eager to gamble away Neal Bucks the currency of Bucksmore.
On Thursday we had our Study in Action excursion. The Engineering stream explored the Olympic Park in London marveling at its incredible facilities, reliving the London 2012 experience. The Medicine stream had a time-travel experience! They visited Europe’s Oldest Surviving Operating Theatre and had a guided talk which gave them a clear idea on how surgery was performed in 1800s. Our performing Arts stream also enjoyed a blast from the past; a lovely tour to Globe theatre, followed by a brief visit to the Tate.
On Friday the kids were entertained to an evening of a range of enriching sports activities at the famous Iffey Field Park. Kids took part in athletics, tennis, dodgeball and badminton.
On Saturday students spend the day at the famous Warwick Castle where they experienced 1,100 years of jaw-dropping history, magic, mystery and adventure. Students were blown away by an epic live action jousting show!
Sunday, also known as project presentation day, where all groups in their project classes present what they had worked on in the past week and were able to do the finishing touches on their presentations in the afternoon before presenting in the evening. From presentations on the stock market and financial crises, to ethical debates on current medicine topics, and a moving performance by the performing arts group.
