There is something uniquely inspiring about coastal Brighton in the summer. This past week, our Bucksmore students at Oxford International College (OIC) Brighton have experienced a whirlwind of academic engagement, cultural excursions, and unforgettable social activities. From mastering the art of persuasive public speaking to exploring royal landmarks and scenic coastal views, every single day has brought new opportunities for growth, friendship, and fun.
Engaging Lessons & Developing the Art of Voice
Academic excellence sits at the heart of our Bucksmore programmes, and Week 4 has been no exception. Our students kicked off their sessions with dynamic workshops focused on finding their voice, building strong arguments, and mastering body language and projection. Through interactive speaking games, structured debates, and targeted English sessions, participants honed their ability to organize speeches and deliver them under pressure. Watching students transition from hesitant speakers to confident, articulate debaters during our mini-debates and final showcase has been one of the absolute highlights of the week.
Academic Focus: Students tackled complex topics through structured debates, active listening exercises, and collaborative project preparation, culminating in an impressive final showcase and peer feedback sessions.
Excursions Across Iconic Landmarks
Classroom learning was beautifully complemented by an exciting roster of cultural trips. Mid-week, our students explored the grandeur of the Brighton Walking Tour and the stunning Royal Pavilion, taking in the futuristic heights of the Brighton i360. Later in the week, the adventure expanded beyond the coast with magnificent excursions to London—featuring the British Museum, Covent Garden, and the London Transport Museum—alongside historic visits to Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace State Rooms. Whether soaking in centuries of British heritage or navigating London’s bustling streets, our students embraced every moment with enthusiasm.
Activities, Sports, and Evening Entertainment
Beyond the lecture halls and museums, the energy stayed high with an action-packed activity schedule. Afternoons featured everything from lively volleyball matches and Zumba sessions to creative origami and nature painting workshops. Evenings provided the perfect unwind, starting with an unforgettable Lip Sync Battle and Welcome Games, followed by the energetic Bucky Olympics, movie nights, and a much-anticipated graduation disco to celebrate everyone’s hard work.
As we wrap up an extraordinary week at OIC Brighton, our students leave not only with improved language and presentation skills, but with lasting memories and global friendships. We are immensely proud of everything they have achieved and cannot wait to see where their newfound confidence takes them next!
