Welcome back to the latest edition of Bucksmore News, where we bring you an exclusive look into the heart of our vibrant summer programmes. This week, our youngest learners on the Baby Hippo programme have experienced an incredible, well-balanced blend of focused academic progression, cultural discovery, and unforgettable evening entertainment here at OIC Brighton 2026.
Academic Excellence and Intensive Learning
From the moment our students arrived on Tuesday, 28 July, the academic tone was set with precision and enthusiasm. Mornings on the Baby Hippo programme are dedicated to strengthening foundational English language skills through structured, interactive sessions such as HIPPO English in Use and HIPPO Grammar in Use.
Throughout the week, students diligently worked through their core modules, culminating in rigorous evaluations that tested their progress, including the HIPPO Mock Test on Sunday and official HIPPO Testing alongside Debate Club on Monday morning. It has been truly inspiring to witness our learners engage so deeply with their curriculum, demonstrating remarkable focus, resilience, and intellectual curiosity.
Adventures Beyond the Classroom
Education at Bucksmore extends far beyond traditional classroom walls. Mid-week afternoons provided wonderful opportunities for cultural exploration and recreation. On Wednesday, students enjoyed an engaging excursion to Brighton, followed by an action-packed, thrilling full-day trip to Thorpe Park on Saturday, 1 August.
When on campus, afternoon schedules were filled with dynamic team-building and creative challenges. From high-energy games like Capture the Flag and the adventurous Scavenger Hunt to collaborative pursuits like the Photo Challenge—painting remaster, students embraced every opportunity to work together, showcase their creative talents, and forge lasting international friendships in a safe and supportive environment.
Evening Highlights and Community Spirit
As the sun set, the energy on campus shifted toward thrilling evening events designed to foster strong community spirit and relaxation. The week commenced with welcoming games on opening night, quickly followed by crowd-favourites such as the lively LipSync Battle, the classic Bucky Olympics, and an intriguing Murder Mystery evening that kept everyone guessing.
Laughter and excitement continued through the weekend with a cozy Movie Night and the intellectually stimulating Battle of the Brains. As we conclude this remarkable week with today’s graduation ceremony and celebratory disco, we reflect with immense pride on how much our Baby Hippo students have achieved, learned, and grown.
