As our summer programme reached its inspiring conclusion, we look back at a remarkable final week for our HIPPO students. Running from August 4th to August 10th, this concluding week was meticulously designed to balance rigorous academic achievement with engaging cultural experiences, ensuring a well-rounded and memorable finish to our time together.
Balanced Academic Rigour
The mornings were dedicated to consolidating learning through structured sessions. From Wednesday through to Sunday, students focused on ‘English in Use’ and ‘Grammar in Use’ modules, which provided the necessary reinforcement for their assessments. A critical milestone occurred on Sunday, when students undertook the HIPPO Mock Test, followed by a final testing session and an invigorating Debate Club on Monday morning. This structured approach ensured that all students were thoroughly prepared and confident in their abilities before their final evaluations.
Immersive Cultural Excursions
Beyond the classroom, experiential learning remained central to our mission. This week featured two significant excursions designed to broaden horizons and foster camaraderie. On Wednesday, August 5th, students enjoyed an excursion to Brighton, providing a fantastic opportunity to explore one of England’s most iconic seaside cities. Following this, Saturday, August 8th, was dedicated to an all-day excursion to Thorpe Park, offering a thrilling and well-deserved break for our hardworking students. These outings proved essential in creating lasting memories and allowing students to bond outside of an academic environment.
Engaging Afternoon and Evening Activities
Afternoons and evenings were packed with dynamic activities aimed at encouraging teamwork and creativity. From the ‘Bucky Olympics’ and ‘Murder Mystery’ evenings to the ‘Photo Challenge on the beach’ and a final ‘Battle of the Brains,’ our programme ensured that downtime was both stimulating and socially enriching. These activities were carefully balanced with project preparation sessions, ensuring that students also maintained focus on their core goals.
A Grand Conclusion
The final day, Monday, August 10th, served as a wonderful celebration of our students’ hard work and growth. After completing their final assessments in the morning, the programme concluded with a much-anticipated Graduation and Disco in the evening. It was a fitting tribute to the dedication shown by our students throughout the summer. We were incredibly proud of all they achieved during a final week defined by both academic focus and joyous celebration.
