After four weeks of studying and socialising, Bucksmore Summer 2026 at DVB has come to an end. We’ve welcomed pupils from all around the world, explored cultural destinations together and enriched minds with engaging lessons and activities. The DVB team is so proud of you all!
City Exploration
Wednesday’s afternoon excursion saw a visit to the Ashmoleon Museum, which has existed for almost 350 years as the oldest museum in Britain open to the general public. From the Jericho Skull and the Alfred Jewel, to Guy Fawkes’ Lantern and King Scorpion’s Macehead, the Ashmoleon houses fascinating pieces for young minds to discover.
As always, subject specific excursions took place on Wednesday. Engineering pupils expressed how much they enjoyed the F1 race course at Silverstone, and the psychology group explored optical illusions at TWIST before an insightful workshop on ethics and the four pillars of ethical decision making. Computer Science & AI visited WW2 codebreaking centre Bletchley Park; Business & Marketing designed, marketed and made their own smoothie; and Architecture was guided around London, exploring sustainable buildings.

Pupils were thrilled to finally visit London, during our long awaited excursion to the capital city on Sunday! There was excitement to take photos of iconic landmarks like St Paul’s cathedral and Tower Bridge during the walking tour. In the afternoon, we roamed around the Tower of London, witnessing the Crown Jewels and exploring the infamous tower from where two 15th century heirs to the English throne mysteriously disappeared.

Competition and Congratulations
Enthusiasm for activities hasn’t faltered, with the week starting off strong when pupils took to the stage on Wednesday evening in Bucksmore’s Got Talent to showcase their abilities. Another highlight was Taskmaster Night when teams battled against each other in memory challenges, tower building activities and newspaper haiku creations. Of course we couldn’t end our fortnight together without dressing up to celebrate graduation before dancing the night away at the Big Bucksmore disco. A huge congratulations to all of our recent graduates!

Thank you for reading over the past 4 weeks, who knows what pupils will discover and learn next year?
